Friends of the Library
The Friends of the Germantown Community Library is a community-based organization that supports the
Germantown Community Library through fundraising and volunteer service. The major initiative
of the organization is a semi-annual book sale that gives the community access to a wide variety of
books at a fraction of their initial cost. The Friends group also supports several other library events
and projects including the Summer Reading Club and the Germantown Book Club.
The Book Club meets at the library on the first Monday of each month. All adults
are welcome to participate.
All funds raised by the Friends of the Germantown Community Library are used to enhance the library's collection of materials
and services to the community.
Book Donations
Donated Materials Acceptance Policy
The Friends of the Germantown Library is pleased to accept new and gently used*
materials through public donations at the Germantown Community Library. The organization
provides library staff an opportunity to review all donations and select any titles
that would make good additions to the collection. All other materials will be used
during book sales to generate funds to support the Germantown Community Library.
While all donations are appreciated, the Friends of the Germantown Community Library
has established the following guidelines for the acceptance of donated materials.
- Fiction and non-fiction books, videos, DVDs and high school textbooks
(less than 5 years old).
- Magazines and college textbooks cannot be accepted.
*Gently used materials are defined as books (and audio/video covers) that do
not have breakage, stains, discoloration, water damage or odor.
